PUMCHDesde la década de 1930, el hospital ha llevado a cabo con éxito la primera resección de lóbulo pulmonar, pulmón completo y cáncer de cardias a cielo abierto en el país, marcando el nacimiento de la cirugía torácica en el hospital, y convirtiéndose en un símbolo importante del inicio de la cirugía torácica en China. Durante las siguientes décadas, pioneros y fundadores de la cirugía torácica china como Wu Yingkai, Huang Jiashi y Xu Letian dejaron un legado brillante aquí. En la nueva era, el equipo de cirugía torácica de Xiehe hereda las excelentes tradiciones de sus predecesores, innovando y avanzando continuamente en áreas como la atención médica y la investigación, manteniendo a la cirugía torácica de Xiehe en la vanguardia del país y convirtiéndola en un centro de referencia para el tratamiento de enfermedades torácicas complejas.
Después de años de desarrollo, el departamento de cirugía torácica cuenta actualmente con 60 camas y 21 médicos a tiempo completo, bajo la dirección del Profesor Li Danqing, con un volumen quirúrgico promedio anual que supera las 1800 operaciones en los últimos años. El departamento cuenta con 4 profesores titulares, 6 profesores asociados, 8 médicos tratantes y 3 médicos residentes, de los cuales 15 tienen un doctorado y 6 tienen una maestría. Todos los médicos tratantes y superiores pueden realizar de manera independiente resecciones quirúrgicas de cáncer de pulmón, esófago y cardias, así como cirugías mínimamente invasivas de tumores mediastínicos, con complicaciones quirúrgicas por debajo del 5% y una tasa de mortalidad hospitalaria inferior al 1%.
Gracias al esfuerzo de los directores y colegas anteriores, el equipo de cirugía torácica ha logrado numerosos éxitos. En 1990, el director Xu Letian lideró el tratamiento quirúrgico del cáncer de cardias, que recibió el tercer premio en avances científicos del Instituto de Medicina; en 1995, el director Li Zejian llevó a cabo el tratamiento quirúrgico de aneurismas torácicos y abdominales, que también recibió el tercer premio en avances científicos; en 1998, el tratamiento quirúrgico de tumores malignos del esófago en el hospital recibió el segundo premio en avances tecnológicos; en agosto de 1999, el director Li Zejian, junto con todo el departamento, recibió el segundo premio del Ministerio de Salud por la propuesta de la miastenia gravis generalizada y la creación de nuevos métodos de diagnóstico inmunológico clínico. Además, el departamento de cirugía torácica también acepta casos complejos y difíciles de todo el país, siendo uno de los pocos que maneja casos de alta dificultad y riesgo. Además de tratar enfermedades torácicas comunes, el departamento se destaca en el tratamiento quirúrgico de miastenia gravis y timomas, así como en el tratamiento de cáncer de esófago, cardias y cáncer broncopulmonar, situándose entre los mejores del país.
