PUMCHDe afdeling radiologie van het ziekenhuis heeft een compleet en geavanceerd systeem voor moderne medische beeldvorming ontwikkeld, dat al lange tijd tot de top behoort in de nationale reputatielijst van Fudan voor ziekenhuisdisciplines en ook hoog scoort in nationale kwaliteitsbeoordelingen van radiologische beeldvorming. De afdeling is een van de vroegst opgerichte radiologische disciplines in China en heeft beroemdheden zoals Xie Zhiguang, Wang Shaoxun, Hu Maohua, Xie Yuzhang, Li Guozhen, Liu Yuqing en Zhang Tieliang voortgebracht. Het was een van de eersten in het land die verschillende radiologische diagnostische en behandelingsmethoden introduceerde en heeft talloze nationale professionele cursussen georganiseerd, wat heeft bijgedragen aan de ontwikkeling van de radiologie in China en de opleiding van professionals in het vakgebied.
In 2001 werd de afdeling erkend als een nationale sleuteldiscipline door de nationale onderwijscommissie en is het een nationaal opleidingscentrum voor voortgezette educatie en een opleidingsbasis voor ziekenhuisartsen in Beijing. De afdeling beschikt over een goed gestructureerd team van hooggekwalificeerde professionals, waaronder diagnostische teams, interventieteams, technische teams, verpleegteams en een onderzoeks- en ontwikkelingsgroep voor beeldvorming met kunstmatige intelligentie. Meer dan 80% van de artsen in de afdeling heeft een masterdiploma of hoger.
De afdeling beschikt over tientallen geavanceerde beeldvormings- en behandelingsapparatuur, waaronder zes van de meest geavanceerde dual-source CT-scanners ter wereld, een 640-slice CT, een 256-slice CT, een energiespectrum CT, een 64-slice spiral CT, twee 16-slice spiral CT's, en tien MRI-scanners, waaronder 3T ultra-hoge veld MRI en 1.5T MRI. Daarnaast zijn er zeven digitale subtractie angiografiemachines, vier volledig digitale gastro-intestinale beeldvormingsmachines, drie volledig digitale mammografie-apparaten, twee dual-energy röntgenapparaten voor botdichtheid, en meer dan veertig andere apparaten zoals computer-röntgenfotografie (CR), directe digitale röntgenfotografie (DR) en lasercamera's. Het PACS-systeem van de afdeling is volledig geïmplementeerd, wat digitale diagnose en beeldbeheer, opslag en zelfbediening mogelijk maakt.
De afdeling biedt zowel diagnostiek als behandeling en is toonaangevend in de klinische toepassing van multi-slice spiral CT en ultra-hoge veld MRI in China. Bijzonder sterk zijn de vroege beelddiagnose van hart- en vaatziekten, vroege beeldvorming screening van longkanker, borstkanker en dikkedarmkanker, vroege beelddiagnose en preoperatieve evaluatie van pancreas tumoren, integrale beelddiagnose en postoperatieve evaluatie van hypofysetumoren, vroege beelddiagnose en interventiebehandeling van acute ischemische cerebrovasculaire aandoeningen, beeldonderzoek van reumatische en auto-immuunziekten en endocriene metabole botziekten, en evaluatie van tumormetastasen en systemische ziekten met DWI. Jaarlijks worden er ongeveer 450.000 verschillende beeldvormingsonderzoeken uitgevoerd.
