PUMCHDe afdeling Longgeneeskunde van het ziekenhuis is opgericht door de beroemde longgeneeskundige expert, professor Zhu Guiqing, en heeft een lange geschiedenis. Als een van de eerste longafdelingen in China is de afdeling een toonaangevend klinisch en onderzoekscentrum voor longgeneeskunde en een centrum voor de behandeling van complexe longziekten, met vele vooraanstaande en bekende professoren in het vak. Onder hen zijn professor Luo Weici en professor Zhu Yuanjue, die de 'Lifetime Achievement Award' van de Chinese Longartsen hebben ontvangen, evenals professor Huang Xizhen, professor Li Longyun, professor Cai Baichang en professor Lu Weixuan, die de 'Chinese Longartsenprijs' hebben gewonnen, en professor Lin Yaoguang, die de 'Outstanding Contribution Award' van de Chinese Vereniging voor Longziekten heeft ontvangen. In augustus 2018 werd de afdeling officieel omgedoopt tot de Afdeling Long- en Intensieve Geneeskunde (PCCM).
De afdeling Long- en Intensieve Geneeskunde omvat momenteel 11 groepen, waaronder de groep voor chronische obstructieve longziekten, de groep voor slaapapneu, de groep voor interstitiële longziekten, het longkankercentrum, de groep voor longembolie en longvaatziekten, de astmagroep, de groep voor intensieve geneeskunde, de infectiegroep, de interventiegroep, de groep voor ademtherapie en de anti-rookgroep. De afdeling heeft momenteel 33 artsen in dienst, waaronder 10 hoofdartsen, 10 plaatsvervangend hoofdartsen en 13 behandelend artsen. De interstitiële longziektengroep, geleid door professor Xu Zuojun, en het longkankercentrum, geleid door professor Wang Mengzhao en professor Zhang Li, evenals het slaapcentrum onder leiding van professor Xiao Yi en de longvaatziektengroep onder leiding van professor Shi Juhong en professor Xu Kaifeng, hebben een compleet team en vormen de huidige kenmerken van de afdeling.
De jaarlijkse 'Beijing Concord Longgeneeskunde Topconferentie' is inmiddels 12 keer gehouden en is zeer gewaardeerd door collega's in de longgeneeskunde in het hele land. De afdeling organiseert ook jaarlijks verschillende cursussen, zoals de 'Ziekenhuis Longgeneeskunde Topconferentie', de 'Workshop over complexe longziekten en diffuse interstitiële longziekten', de 'Shuifu Garden Forum over vooruitgang in longziekten en gestandaardiseerde behandelingscursussen' en de 'Cursus over nieuwe inzichten in de behandeling van thoracale maligne tumoren', om de promotie en ontwikkeling van de longgeneeskunde te bevorderen.

Leidend in interstitiële longziekten (idiopathische longfibrose, bindweefselziekte-gerelateerde interstitiële longziekten), lymfangiomyomatose (LAM), zeldzame longziekten en interventionele behandeling van longkanker, met de grootste nationale cohort van zeldzame longziekten en een internationaal erkend centrum voor longinterventies.
Met behulp van longfunctieonderzoek, hoge-resolutie CT, cryobiopsie met fijne bronchoscopie en multidisciplinaire pathologiebeoordeling (MDD) realiseren we een vroege en nauwkeurige differentiatie van interstitiële en zeldzame longziekten.
