PUMCHHastane dermatoloji bölümü 1924 yılında kurulmuştur ve ülkemizin en eski dermatoloji ve cilt hastalıkları disiplinlerinden biridir. İlk müdür Dr. Chester N. Frazier'dir. Kurtuluş sonrası, ülkemizin dermatoloji ve cilt hastalıkları kurucularından biri, ünlü dermatolog ve birinci sınıf profesör Li Hongqiang bölüm müdürü olarak atanmıştır. Birkaç neslin özverili çalışmaları sonucunda, Xiehe Hastanesi Dermatoloji Bölümü, ülkemizin dermatoloji ve cilt hastalıkları gelişimine önemli katkılarda bulunmuştur.
2002 yılında ilk ulusal ana uzmanlık alanlarından biri haline gelmiş, doktora sonrası, doktora ve yüksek lisans öğrencileri için bir eğitim noktası ve ulusal klinik farmakoloji üssü olmuştur. Akademik lider Prof. Jin Hongzhong'un önderliğinde, bölüm son yıllarda sürekli olarak büyümüş, sağlık hizmetleri, eğitim ve araştırma alanlarında önemli başarılar elde etmiştir. Otoimmün büyük veziküler hastalıklar, sedef hastalığı, cinsel yolla bulaşan hastalıklar, lazer estetik tedavisi, deri doku patolojik tanısı gibi birçok tedavi merkezi ile büyük bir dermatoloji ve cilt hastalıkları disiplini haline gelmiştir. Deri mikroskobu, deri ultrason tanısı, deri cerrahisi Mohs mikroskopik cerrahisi, minimal invaziv aksiller terleme tedavisi, fotodinamik tedavi gibi birçok yeni tedavi projesi aktif olarak yürütülmektedir.
Yıllardır, her hafta bölüm müdürü tarafından yapılan üç seviyeli hasta vizitleri ve zor vakaların tartışılması geleneğini sürdürmekteyiz. Ülke genelinden gelen zor ve ağır hastalara etkili ve hassas tanı ve tedavi sunulmaktadır.

Ülke çapında lider bir deri patoloji okuma merkezi ve deri fotodinamik minimal invaziv tedavi merkezi bulunmaktadır.
Yüksek hassasiyetli deri doku patolojik biyopsi, direkt immün floresan (DIF) ve yeni biyolojik ajanlar/hedefe yönelik ilaçların kombinasyonu ile hassas deri immün tedavisi uygulanmaktadır.
