PUMCHDie Abteilung für Nephrologie wurde 1979 in China als neues Fachgebiet gegründet. Professor Bi Zengqi hatte die Vision, eine Fachgruppe für Innere Medizin und Nephrologie im Krankenhaus zu gründen, die zu den ersten Nephrologie-Abteilungen in China gehörte. Ab 1980 wurden ein Nierenlabor und ein Hämodialysezentrum eingerichtet. In den frühen 1990er Jahren kehrten eine Reihe junger Wissenschaftler aus dem Ausland zurück und brachten neue Vitalität und Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten in die klinische Praxis, Lehre und Forschung der Nephrologie.
Im Jahr 1993 wurde die Fachgruppe für Innere Medizin und Nephrologie, wie auch andere Fachgruppen, zur Abteilung für Nephrologie umbenannt, und es wurde ein Zentrum für Blutreinigung gegründet. In den späten 1990er Jahren schlossen mehrere Doktoranden und Masterabsolventen ihr Studium ab und kehrten nach Postdoktoranden-Training oder Weiterbildung in den USA, Europa, Australien und Japan zurück, was der Nephrologie-Abteilung neue Dynamik verlieh. Nach über 30 Jahren harter Arbeit hat sich die Abteilung für Nephrologie zu einem modernen Zentrum für die Diagnose und Behandlung von Nierenerkrankungen entwickelt, einschließlich ambulanter Versorgung, stationärer Behandlung, Blutreinigung (einschließlich Peritonealdialyse) und einem Nierenlabor.
Im Laufe der Jahre hat die Abteilung unter der direkten Leitung des Gesundheitsministeriums eine Vielzahl von Aufgaben in der Gesundheitsversorgung für hochrangige Beamte, die Behandlung von ausländischen Gästen und medizinische Konsultationen im Ausland erfolgreich durchgeführt.

Basierend auf hochqualitativer pathologischer und immunpathologischer Analyse der Nieren, kombiniert mit Gentests für Ionenkanäle, bieten wir eine umfassende Betreuung bei der immunologischen Kontrolle von therapieresistenten Nierenerkrankungen sowie bei der Hämodialyse und Peritonealdialyse.
