PUMCHIl dipartimento di gastroenterologia è una delle specialità più antiche dell'ospedale, fondato e guidato personalmente dal maestro della medicina interna moderna in Cina, il professor Zhang Xiaoqian, e dal noto esperto di malattie gastrointestinali, il professor Chen Minzhang. Dopo anni di sforzi da parte di diverse generazioni, il dipartimento di gastroenterologia è diventato una disciplina di riferimento con un forte impatto sia a livello nazionale che internazionale.
Il dipartimento è completo in tutte le sue sottospecialità, con un team di talenti altamente qualificati e una solida competenza sia clinica che di laboratorio. È un centro di alto livello per la gastroenterologia, l'endoscopia e il trattamento di malattie gravi e complesse.
