PUMCHKhoa Mắt của bệnh viện được thành lập vào năm 1920, là khoa mắt đầu tiên được thành lập tại Trung Quốc. Sau khi thành lập, nhiều nhà khoa học mắt hàng đầu quốc tế đã làm việc tại đây, được mệnh danh là 'Trung tâm Mắt Vienna phương Đông'. Kể từ khi thành lập vào năm 1920, trải qua quá trình phát triển liên tục, Khoa Mắt đã trở thành cơ sở chuyên môn toàn diện, kết hợp y tế, giáo dục và nghiên cứu, với trình độ tổng thể đứng đầu trong nước, một số dự án đạt tiêu chuẩn quốc tế.
Hiện tại, Khoa Mắt có hai khu khám bệnh là Đông Đơn và Tây Đơn, với khoa nội trú đặt tại Đông Đơn, tổng cộng có 49 giường bệnh. Khoa Mắt có các nhóm chuyên môn về bệnh võng mạc, glaucom, giác mạc và khúc xạ, nhãn khoa thần kinh, viêm màng bồ đào, nhãn khoa quang học và lác, phẫu thuật thẩm mỹ mắt và đường lệ, di truyền mắt, dịch tễ học mắt và phòng chống mù lòa, cũng như có phòng thí nghiệm mắt phục vụ cho lâm sàng và nghiên cứu. Dưới sự lãnh đạo của các chuyên gia nổi tiếng quốc gia như Giáo sư Chung Dũng, Giáo sư Trần Hữu Tín, Giáo sư Trương Mỹ Phân, khoa đã hình thành một trung tâm chuyên khoa cấp quốc gia hoàn chỉnh bao gồm bệnh võng mạc, glaucom, đục thủy tinh thể, bệnh giác mạc, viêm màng bồ đào và nhãn khoa thần kinh.
Khoa Mắt có nhiều chuyên gia nổi tiếng dày dạn kinh nghiệm phục vụ cho bệnh nhân mắc bệnh mắt khó từ khắp nơi trên cả nước. Với việc đưa vào sử dụng tòa nhà khám bệnh mới và tòa nhà phẫu thuật mới vào năm 2012, Khoa Mắt đã được trang bị thiết bị chẩn đoán và điều trị tương đương với các trung tâm mắt hàng đầu thế giới, nâng cao đáng kể môi trường điều trị. Hiện tại, Khoa Mắt cung cấp dịch vụ khám bệnh thông thường (tại Đông Đơn và Tây Đơn), khám bệnh chuyên khoa, khám bệnh đặc biệt và khám bệnh quốc tế, đáp ứng nhu cầu đa dạng của bệnh nhân về y tế, với hơn 120.000 lượt khám mỗi năm. Khoa Mắt thực hiện các loại phẫu thuật như phẫu thuật dịch kính võng mạc, phẫu thuật điều chỉnh cận thị bằng laser femtosecond, phẫu thuật lấy đục thủy tinh thể, phẫu thuật cấy ghép thủy tinh thể nhân tạo, phẫu thuật điều chỉnh lác, phẫu thuật thẩm mỹ mắt và các loại phẫu thuật mắt khác, với hơn 8.000 ca phẫu thuật mỗi năm. Ngoài ra, Khoa Mắt còn hoàn thành xuất sắc các nhiệm vụ y tế hỗ trợ vùng nghèo, viện trợ cho Tân Cương, Tây Tạng, châu Phi, Úc và các nhiệm vụ khác của quốc gia và Ủy ban Y tế Quốc gia.
