في عام 1983، وافق البروفيسور تشين مينغ تشانغ، المدير السابق للمستشفى، على إنشاء قسم الطوارئ المستقل، وهو الأول من نوعه في البلاد. تولى الدكتور شاو شياو هوانغ منصب المدير الأول، ويُعتبر من مؤسسي الطوارئ الطبية في الصين. في عام 1992، تولت البروفيسورة تشو يوشو منصب المدير، ثم تبعتها البروفيسور ما سوي في عام 1997، والبروفيسور يو شياو تشونغ في عام 2005. بفضل جهود الأجيال المتعاقبة من العاملين في قسم الطوارئ، تطور القسم من لا شيء إلى ما هو عليه اليوم.

بالإضافة إلى المهام السريرية، يلعب قسم الطوارئ أيضًا دورًا نشطًا في التعليم. في عام 1985، قام البروفيسور شاو شياو هوانغ بتحرير أول كتاب كبير في الطوارئ الطبية في الصين. ومنذ ذلك الحين، قام البروفيسور ما سوي والبروفيسور يو شياو تشونغ بتحرير عدة كتب كبيرة أخرى، مما ساهم بشكل كبير في بناء تخصص الطوارئ الطبية في البلاد. يقوم القسم بتدريب 10 طلاب دكتوراه و20-30 طبيب مقيم سنويًا.
في السنوات الأخيرة، حصل قسم الطوارئ على تمويل من عدة جهات، بما في ذلك وزارة الصحة، وقدم أبحاثًا عميقة في مجالات الإنعاش القلبي الرئوي، والالتهاب الرئوي الحاد، والتسمم. ينشر القسم أكثر من 10 مقالات في مجلات SCI و30 مقالة في مجلات محلية سنويًا.
يستمر قسم الطوارئ في الالتزام بمبدأ التركيز على السريرية، وحل الحالات الحرجة والمعقدة، مع اعتبار سلامة وجودة الرعاية الصحية أمرًا حيويًا. يسعى القسم إلى الحفاظ على مستوى عالٍ من الرعاية الصحية في البلاد، مع التركيز على التعليم والبحث، وتعزيز بناء الكوادر، وتحسين الجودة الطبية باستمرار.

منذ تأسيسه، حافظ قسم الطوارئ على المركز الأول في قائمة سمعة تخصص الطوارئ الطبية في البلاد، ويعتبر وحدة أساسية للمركز الوطني لمراقبة جودة الطوارئ. يتولى القسم مهام الإنقاذ الطبي في حالات الطوارئ الكبرى ويعتبر الخط الأول في مواجهة الحالات الحرجة المعقدة، ويُعرف بأنه "نافذة التعاون، ومدخل للأمراض المعقدة".
تطبيق نظام العلاج الفعال "ثلاث مراحل للطوارئ"، حيث يتم دمج الفحص والتشخيص، والإنقاذ والإنعاش، وغرف المراقبة الشاملة، مما يتيح استجابة سريعة من قبل فرق متعددة التخصصات في المستشفى.
