診療科紹介と発展の歴史
1953年、宋儒耀教授と王巧璋教授夫婦は、既存の歯科治療室を基に独立した口腔科を設立しました。その後、赖钦声、钱雪君、田恩顺、黄朝隽、俞家振、高孟林、文竹咸など多くの中堅人材が加わり、協和医院口腔科は初の急速な発展期を迎えました。当時、協和医院口腔科は全国の口腔医学界で高い学術的地位を有しており、宋儒耀教授は中华口腔科雑誌の主編、中华医学会口腔科分会の主任委員を務めていました。王巧璋教授と俞家振教授もそれぞれ中华医学会口腔科分会の常務委員、中华口腔科雑誌の常務委員を歴任しました。
1978年10月、王巧璋教授と宋儒耀教授は初めて3名の大学院生を受け入れました。1979年には口腔科実験室が設立され、病理、免疫、生化学などの研究と臨床業務が開始されました。口腔内科において、王巧璋教授は長年の虫歯病因研究の成果である「糖原学説」により、十年動乱後の全国科学大会で表彰されました。1983年には口腔外科と内科で広範なレーザー治療の臨床及び研究が開始され、1986年には電子工業部から科学技術進歩二等賞を受賞しました。
口腔外科においては、旋髂深動静脈を用いた遊離髂骨瓣移植による下顎骨の修復は80年代から行われ、21世紀の現在でも高い技術とされています。1987年からは、颞浅動静脈を用いた颞骨瓣による下顎骨欠損の修復研究が国内初の試みとして行われました。口腔鳞癌細胞株の分離、培養、血管腫及び悪性腫瘍に対するレーザー治療の研究も国内で先進的な水準にあります。口腔粘膜疾患の研究においても、白斑の集団調査や乾燥症候群などの臨床及び実験室研究が進展しています。1994年には口腔科がコロンビア大学と協力して我国初の歯科インプラントセンターを設立し、臨床及び基礎研究を先駆けて行いました。2002年5月以降、病院と郵電総医院の合併により、口腔科はさらなる発展の機会を得ました。
科室の現状は、90年代の拡張と長年の設備更新、人材の導入、さらに東西両院の合併により、口腔科は不断に発展し続けています。学科の発展に伴い、専門グループの設定がさらに整備され、現在は口腔顎面外科学、歯体歯髄病学、歯周病学、口腔粘膜病学、児童口腔病学、口腔修復学、口腔矯正学の専門グループ及び口腔インプラントセンター、無痛歯科治療センターの7つの専門グループと2つの治療センターが設置されています。現在の口腔科は、近く51台の口腔総合治療台、12床、76名の医療スタッフ（医師48名、看護師19名、技術者9名）を有する大規模な科室となっています。職務に就く博士課程指導教員1名、修士課程指導教員5名が在籍しています。学科の人材構成は合理的であり、教授及び主任医師6名、副教授及び副主任医師11名、主治医24名、研修医7名が在籍しています。
